Bruce Blakeney was recently named South Mississippi State Hospital’s third quarter 2016 Employee of the Quarter. He began working at SMSH as an RN in July 2011.
“Bruce is conscientious about always doing what is right,” said his nominator. “He is always willing to learn something new and teach it to others.”
Blakeney is a long-time resident of Pearl River County and a graduate of Poplarville High School. He earned an Associate’s degree in Applied Science from the Associate Degree Nursing Program at Pearl River Community College in 2009. He is also a basic life support instructor recognized by the American Heart Association; he teaches CPR and BLS to employees at SMSH.
“I like the people I get to work with at SMSH,” said Blakeney. Away from work, he enjoys spending time with family and friends.
Prior to his work at SMSH, Blakeney worked at Rest Haven Nursing Home in Bogalusa, Louisiana.
"Bruce quietly goes about his day while completing the tasks before him," said April Holder, nurse executive. "He is a genuinely good person and cares about all of those with whom he comes in contact."
